Ama Dablam Initiative Fund: we need your help to rebuild Nepal
In spring 2015 Nepal suffered from the worst natural disaster since 1934. The matter concerns the so called Gorkha earthquake which stroke the area on the 25 th of April 2015. The epicenter was detected south-east of Lamjung, the largest part of Gandaki Zone. The whole settlements were razed to the ground. The earthquake made a clean sweep of the cities and villages. Approximately 90% of residential structures and public buildings were destroyed. More than 8000 people were made earthquake victims. About 14 000 of Nepalese people were taken to hospitals with injuries of varying severity.
The first quake occurred on the 25th of April at 11:56 a.m. It was reported as 7,8 Mw by USGS. Though it lasted just 15-20 seconds, the scale of the tragedy is difficult to imagine. Over 10,000 people lost their lives and at least 4000 homes were destroyed.
It is the goal of the Ama Dablam Initiative to raise the funds necessary to reconstruct schools in the mountainous regions of Nepal. It costs approximately $70,000 to build one school.
